7 Tips To Naturally Reduce Cellulite

Cellulite is nearly universal. It will show up on most women at some point in their lives, as early as childhood or after you get your AARP card. Even men get it, but it’s definitely more of a woman’s cosmetic issue. So if you have it, you are NOT alone!

There is nothing necessarily harmful about cellulite except the cringe-worthy names the bumps and bulges on your thighs and backside have: cottage cheese thighs, orange peel skin, hail damaged. Those negative names are enough to send you running for cover and avoiding the pool or beach.

Don’t despair or hide under a mumu. You can do something about those ridges and dimples dotting your backside.

What Is Cellulite?

Cellulite is just fat deposits beneath the skin. Everyone has them, men and women, young and old. Cellulite is the result of that fat pressing up and through the support matrix beneath our skin. It is more prevalent on women than men because:

  • We have thinner skin than men
  • Hormones play a role in developing cellulite and women’s hormones fluctuate much more than men’s throughout a lifetime
  • We naturally have more body fat than men. It’s an evolutionary survival mechanism to help us support a pregnancy

There are many factors that can affect whether or not you develop cellulite, where on your body it shows up and how noticeable it is. Follow these seven tips to help reduce the appearance of cellulite and keep more from forming.

  1. Diet

Eat a lot of fresh healthy fruits and vegetables everyday. These foods are full of water to keep skin hydrated so it stays plump and smooth rather saggy. Fruits and vegetables also have lots of antioxidants, vitamins and minerals that support robust production of collagen and elastin, the support bands beneath skin. They keep the skin’s surface looking firm and smooth.

A clean, healthy, low-fat diet will help you maintain a healthy weight so that you don’t have excess fat stores straining against the surface of your skin, too.

  1. Hydration

Your skin needs lots of hydrating fluids to stay healthy and firm. When you are dehydrated your skin becomes thinner and drier making lumps and bulges of fat more noticeable.

Drinking plenty of hydrating fluids (not alcohol or caffeinated products) encourages your body to regularly flush them out instead of hoarding it. The result is better circulation and less noticeable cellulite.

  1. Salt Swap

The body needs some salt, but too much causes us to retain a lot of fluid. All salts are not the same, either.

First, cut back on how much salt you consume overall. Next, consider swapping plain table salt for sea salt (Celtic is good) or Himalayan crystal salt. These add some minerals to your diet and are flavorful in lesser amounts so you don’t need as much to season your food.

  1. Exercise

Circulation is key to flushing toxins out of the body, stimulating healthy cell regeneration and keeping body fat stores in check.

One of the best ways to avoid cellulite is to maintain a healthy weight. Once you build up fat stores and stretch skin it readily shows through in the form of bumps and bulges.

Losing weight can reduce the appearance of cellulite. Not gaining a lot is a proven method of warding off excessive cellulite.

  1. Strength Train

Building up muscle helps to make your skin appear more smooth and less saggy and baggy allowing fatty deposits pushing up against your skin to be more noticeable. Men build and retain muscle more readily than women, which is another reason they have less noticeable cellulite.

Keeping the muscles in your thighs and buttocks strong and firm will give you a smoother appearance on the outside.

  1. Take The Fight Outside

Use a hydrating cream with retinol and caffeine to firm and tighten skin on the outside.

Caffeine within can cause dehydration, but used topically it tightens pores and retinol stimulates cell turnover to make skin smoother and firmer.

Bonapiel’s Anti Cellulite & Body Firming Cream with caffeine and retinol, also combines rose hip seed oil and lactic acid to help skin appear supple, hiding little bumps and dimples.

  1. Don’t Use Skin Thinning Products

Any creams or gels that thin the skin (like those with steroids) will enhance the look of cellulite.

Of course if you need steroid creams to manage a skin condition like eczema, don’t stop using it. Discuss the alternatives with your doctor and be sure to use all the other tips offered here to help hide cellulite.

  1. Love The Skin Your In

Accepting your body the way it is can make cellulite less of an issue for you. Remember, any one can develop cellulite (and probably will eventually!) even very young thin women.

If you are eating well, drinking lots of water, getting exercise and using a topical aid like Bonapiel Anti Cellulite And Body Firming Cream with Caffeine and Retinol, you will have healthier smoother skin.

Doesn’t knowing there are easy things you can do right now to get rid of cellulite and/or keep it from forming make you breathe a little sigh of relief?
